Description

This easy Salisbury Steak with Mushroom Gravy recipe features juicy beef patties simmered in a rich, savory gravy. A comforting one-pan dinner perfect for any night of the week.

Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (85% lean)

1/3 cup breadcrumbs

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 egg

1 tsp garlic powder

Salt and pepper to taste

2 tbsp olive oil

1 cup sliced mushrooms

1 medium onion, thinly sliced

2 cups beef broth

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tbsp all-purpose flour (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, egg, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Shape into 4–6 patties.

  2. Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear patties 3–4 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.

  3. Add remaining oil, then sauté mushrooms and onions until soft, about 5 minutes.

  4. Pour in beef broth and Worcestershire. If using flour, mix with water and whisk into gravy. Simmer 5–7 minutes to thicken.

  5. Return patties to pan, spoon gravy over, cover, and simmer for 10 minutes.

  6. Serve hot over mashed potatoes or noodles with extra gravy.

Notes

  • Use cremini or button mushrooms for best results.
  • For a gluten-free version, use GF breadcrumbs and thicken with cornstarch.
  • Let patties rest in the pan after cooking to soak up more flavor.
