Description
Delightfully fun and visually stunning pizza roses made by rolling crescent dough with pepperoni and melted mozzarella cheese into beautiful rose shapes. These bite-sized treats are perfect for parties, Valentine’s Day, game days, or a quick, crowd-pleasing snack everyone will enjoy.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 1 can refrigerated crescent roll dough (or pizza dough)
- ½ cup pizza sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 20–24 pepperoni slices
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 tbsp olive oil (for greasing pan)
Optional Toppings
- Cooked sausage
- Diced bell peppers
- Olives
- Cooked bacon bits
Instructions
- Preheat and prepare muffin tin: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a muffin tin using 1 tablespoon of olive oil to prevent sticking.
- Prepare dough: Unroll the crescent dough and separate it into rectangular shapes, pressing seams together to create a solid sheet for rolling.
- Layer sauce and cheese: Spread a thin and even layer of pizza sauce over the dough to add flavor and moisture, then sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce.
- Add pepperoni and seasoning: Arrange 20–24 pepperoni slices slightly overlapping along one long edge of the dough, then sprinkle 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning on top to enhance the flavor profile.
- Roll the dough: Starting from the long edge with the pepperoni, roll the dough tightly into a log, which will create the rose shape when sliced.
- Shape and place in tin: Cut the rolled dough into sections and place each piece upright into the prepared muffin tin.
- Bake: Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 15–18 minutes, until they are golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Cool and serve: Allow the pizza roses to cool slightly before removing from the pan and serving. They can be enjoyed as is or dipped in warm marinara sauce.
Notes
- Avoid overfilling the rolls; too much filling can cause the roses to open while baking.
- Using parchment muffin liners can make it easier to remove the pizza roses without damage.
- Serve these with warm marinara sauce for an extra tasty dip.
- Although best served fresh, leftovers can be reheated in an air fryer for 2–3 minutes to restore crispiness.
