Description

Easy Meatball Sub is a hearty and delicious sandwich featuring juicy cooked meatballs smothered in rich marinara sauce, topped with melted mozzarella and Parmesan cheese, all nestled in a toasted sub roll. Perfect for a satisfying and comforting meal that’s quick to prepare.

Ingredients

Meatballs and Sauce

  • 12 cooked meatballs
  • 1 1/2 cups marinara sauce

Sandwich

  • 4 sub rolls
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for toasting the rolls and melting the cheese later.
  2. Heat Meatballs: In a saucepan, combine the cooked meatballs with marinara sauce and heat over medium heat until the meatballs are warmed through and the sauce is hot, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Toast Sub Rolls: Place the sub rolls on a baking tray and put them in the oven for 3-4 minutes to lightly toast the bread, enhancing its texture and flavor.
  4. Assemble Sub: Remove the toasted rolls from the oven and fill each one with the warm meatballs and marinara sauce, distributing evenly among the four rolls.
  5. Add Cheese: Sprinkle shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese over the meatballs in each sub to prepare for melting.
  6. Bake to Melt Cheese: Return the assembled subs to the oven and bake for 5-7 minutes until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly.
  7. Finish and Serve: Remove the subs from the oven, sprinkle 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning evenly over them, and serve hot for the best flavor and experience.

Notes

  • For an extra kick, add sliced jalapeños or red pepper flakes before baking.
