Description

Crockpot Shredded Beef is a tender and flavorful slow-cooked dish featuring a beef chuck roast simmered in savory seasonings until it effortlessly shreds. This versatile recipe is perfect for delicious sandwiches, tacos, rice bowls, or convenient meal prep, delivering melt-in-your-mouth beef infused with rich, hearty flavors.

Ingredients

Beef and Seasonings

  • 23 pounds beef chuck roast
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Other Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Sear the Beef: Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, sear the beef chuck roast on all sides until it develops a browned crust, which helps lock in flavor and juices.
  2. Prepare Crockpot Base: Place the sliced onion and minced garlic at the bottom of the crockpot to create an aromatic base for the beef to cook on.
  3. Layer the Beef: Place the seared beef roast on top of the onion and garlic in the crockpot, ensuring it rests evenly.
  4. Add Liquids and Seasonings: Pour 1 cup of beef broth and 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce over the meat. Then sprinkle paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper evenly on top.
  5. Slow Cook: Cover the crockpot with its lid, and cook on low for 8 hours or on high for 4 to 5 hours, until the beef is fork-tender and easy to shred.
  6. Shred and Serve: Once the beef is tender, use two forks to shred it directly in the crockpot, mixing thoroughly with the flavorful cooking juices before serving or using in your favorite dishes.
