Description

Golden, crispy Parmesan-crusted chicken breasts served with a rich, creamy garlic sauce. This restaurant-quality dish features juicy chicken with a crunchy exterior, perfect for weeknight dinners or special occasions.

Ingredients

Parmesan Chicken

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs or panko
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 3 tbsp olive oil or butter

Rich Garlic Sauce

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup chicken broth
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp dried thyme or parsley

Garnish (optional)

  • Fresh parsley
  • Extra Parmesan

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken: Pound chicken breasts to an even thickness to ensure uniform cooking.
  2. Mix Coating: In a bowl, combine Parmesan cheese, breadcrumbs, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Coat Chicken: Dip each chicken breast into the beaten eggs, then thoroughly coat with the Parmesan breadcrumb mixture.
  4. Cook Chicken: Heat olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook chicken breasts for 4–5 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  5. Make Garlic Sauce: In the same skillet, melt butter, then add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  6. Simmer Broth: Pour in chicken broth and allow it to simmer for 2 minutes to reduce slightly.
  7. Add Cream and Cheese: Stir in heavy cream and Parmesan cheese, cooking 3–5 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  8. Season Sauce: Add salt, black pepper, and dried thyme or parsley to enhance flavor.
  9. Combine & Serve: Return the cooked chicken to the skillet and spoon the garlic sauce over the top. Garnish with fresh parsley and extra Parmesan if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use freshly grated Parmesan cheese for the best crispiness on the chicken.
  • For a lighter approach, chicken can be baked at 400°F (200°C) for 20–25 minutes instead of pan-frying.
  • This dish pairs well with pasta, mashed potatoes, or roasted vegetables for a complete meal.
  • Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat gently to maintain sauce texture.
