Description

Crispy fried pickles with a crunchy, seasoned breadcrumb coating and a tangy pickle center, served with a creamy, flavorful dipping sauce.

Ingredients

Pickles:

  • 1 cup sliced pickles

Breading:

  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs

Dip:

  • ¼ cup sour cream
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ cup minced onions
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pickles: Start by draining the sliced pickles and patting them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. This will help the coating stick better.
  2. Set Up the Breading Station: In one shallow bowl, whisk the eggs. In another shallow bowl, combine the flour, hot sauce, salt, and black pepper. In a third bowl, place the panko breadcrumbs.
  3. Coat the Pickles: Dip each pickle slice into the egg mixture, ensuring it’s fully coated. Then dredge the pickle slice in the flour mixture, pressing lightly to ensure an even coating. Finally, coat the pickle slice in the panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently again to make sure it sticks well.
  4. Freeze the Pickles: Once all the pickles are coated, place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Freeze for at least 30 minutes until firm.
  5. Fry the Pickles: Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Fry coated pickles until golden brown and crispy on each side.
  6. Prepare the Dip: Mix sour cream, mayonnaise, salt, black pepper, onions, garlic, and dried dill in a bowl until combined.
  7. Serve: Serve the fried pickles with dipping sauce on the side. Enjoy!

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add a pinch of crushed red pepper to the breadcrumb mixture.
  • Use panko breadcrumbs for extra crunch or try adding grated parmesan for more flavor.
  • For a healthier option, bake the pickles instead of frying.
  • Try pairing the pickles with ranch dressing, garlic butter, or spicy ketchup for different dip options.
