Ingredients
For the Dough:
1 cup plain flour
1 cup water
1/3 cup + 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 large egg
For the Coating:
1 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon cinnamon powder
Instructions
-
Make the Dough:
Combine 1 cup of water, 1/3 cup + 1 tablespoon butter, 1 teaspoon salt, and 2 tablespoons sugar in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Stir occasionally to melt the butter and dissolve the sugar. Once it boils, reduce the heat to low, add flour, and stir until a smooth dough forms. Remove from heat and cool for 4-5 minutes. -
Mix the Dough:
Add the egg and vanilla extract to the cooled dough. Mix with a hand mixer or stand mixer until smooth. The dough should be thick and sticky but pliable. -
Pipe the Churros:
Transfer the dough into a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Lightly spray the air fryer basket with nonstick spray. Pipe bite-sized churros (about 2 inches long) into the air fryer basket. -
Air Fry the Churros:
Lightly brush churros with melted butter. Cook in the air fryer for 10-12 minutes until golden and crispy. If needed, cook in batches, ensuring there’s space between each churro. -
Coat the Churros:
Mix 1 cup sugar and 1 tablespoon cinnamon in a shallow bowl. Immediately toss the cooked churros in the cinnamon sugar mixture. -
Serve and Enjoy:
Serve warm, with optional dipping sauces like chocolate syrup, Nutella, or caramel.
