Description

These Cavacas are classic Portuguese popovers — fluffy, lightly sweet pastries baked to golden perfection. A quick and easy recipe perfect for brunch, dessert, or snacking.

Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup whole milk

3 large eggs

1/4 cup granulated sugar

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons unsalted butter (for greasing)

Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease muffin tin with butter.

  2. In a bowl, whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

  3. In another bowl, whisk milk and eggs until frothy.

  4. Mix wet ingredients into dry ingredients gently.

  5. Fill muffin cups two-thirds full.

  6. Bake 25–30 minutes until puffed and golden.

  7. Cool slightly, dust with powdered sugar, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Don’t overmix batter — it should be light for proper rise.
  • Best served warm with powdered sugar or glaze.
  • Avoid opening the oven while baking.
