Description

A hearty, budget-friendly one-pan dish made with layers of ground beef, tender potatoes, and melted cheese. This comforting casserole is perfect for busy weeknights and guaranteed to satisfy.

Ingredients

For the Casserole:

1 lb ground beef

45 medium potatoes, thinly sliced (¼-inch thick)

1 tbsp olive oil

1 medium onion, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

½ cup beef broth

¼ cup milk (optional)

For Seasoning & Cheese:

1 tsp Italian seasoning

½ tsp paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet. Sauté onions and garlic until softened.

  3. Add ground beef. Season with Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook until browned.

  4. Layer half the potatoes in the baking dish. Top with half the beef mixture and half the cheddar cheese. Repeat layers.

  5. Pour beef broth and milk (if using) evenly over the layers.

  6. Cover with foil and bake for 35–40 minutes.

  7. Remove foil, sprinkle with Parmesan, and bake uncovered for another 10 minutes until golden.

  8. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a splash of Worcestershire sauce to the beef.
  • Thin slicing is key—use a mandoline slicer if needed.
  • You can double the cheese if you’re feeling extra cheesy.
