Description
A rich and nutty butter pecan cake topped with a creamy butter frosting. This simple yet decadent dessert combines toasted pecans with a moist vanilla cake and a luscious buttercream frosting, making it a perfect crowd-pleaser for any occasion.
Ingredients
Cake:
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1½ cups sugar
- 4 eggs
- 2 cups flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- ½ cup milk
- 1 cup chopped pecans, toasted
Frosting:
- ½ cup butter
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- ¼ cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350 °F (175 °C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan to prevent sticking.
- Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy, which helps create a tender cake texture.
- Add Eggs: Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition to fully incorporate and create a smooth batter.
- Combine Dry Ingredients and Milk: In a separate bowl, mix the flour and baking powder. Then, alternately add the dry ingredients and milk to the creamed mixture, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. This method ensures even distribution and a moist crumb.
- Fold in Pecans: Gently fold in the toasted chopped pecans to add texture and a nutty flavor throughout the batter.
- Bake the Cake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan, smoothing the top, and bake for 35–40 minutes until the cake is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool the Cake: Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before frosting, ensuring the frosting won’t melt.
- Prepare the Frosting: Beat together the butter, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until fluffy and smooth, creating a creamy buttercream.
- Frost the Cake: Spread the frosting evenly over the cooled cake, smoothing it out for a beautiful presentation.
Notes
- Garnish the top of the cake with extra toasted pecans for an appealing finish and added crunch.
- Store the cake covered at room temperature for up to 3 days to maintain freshness and moisture.
