Description
Broccoli Beef Stir-Fry is a quick and flavorful Asian-inspired dish featuring tender thinly sliced beef and crisp broccoli florets coated in a savory garlic soy sauce. Perfect for an easy weeknight dinner, this dish combines bold flavors with simple ingredients for a satisfying meal.
Ingredients
Beef and Vegetables
- 1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
Sauce and Seasoning
- 1/3 cup soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
Instructions
- Prepare the sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, and beef broth until smooth. Set this mixture aside.
- Cook the beef: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced beef and cook for 2–3 minutes until browned but not fully cooked through. Remove beef from the pan and set aside.
- Sauté the vegetables: In the same skillet, add broccoli florets, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until the broccoli is bright green and slightly tender.
- Combine beef and vegetables: Return the cooked beef to the skillet with the broccoli and garlic mixture.
- Add the sauce: Pour the prepared soy sauce mixture over the beef and broccoli. Stir well to coat all ingredients evenly.
- Thicken the sauce: Continue cooking and stirring for another 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens and clings to the beef and broccoli.
- Finish with sesame oil: Drizzle sesame oil over the stir-fry and give a final stir to incorporate its fragrant flavor.
- Serve: Serve the broccoli beef stir-fry hot, ideally over steamed rice or noodles for a complete meal.
Notes
- Slice the beef thinly against the grain to ensure tenderness.
- Feel free to add extra vegetables like sliced carrots or snap peas for added color and nutrition.
- Use low-sodium soy sauce if you prefer to control salt intake.
- To make the dish gluten-free, choose a gluten-free soy sauce.
