Description

Broccoli Beef Stir-Fry is a quick and flavorful Asian-inspired dish featuring tender thinly sliced beef and crisp broccoli florets coated in a savory garlic soy sauce. Perfect for an easy weeknight dinner, this dish combines bold flavors with simple ingredients for a satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Beef and Vegetables

  • 1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger

Sauce and Seasoning

  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, and beef broth until smooth. Set this mixture aside.
  2. Cook the beef: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced beef and cook for 2–3 minutes until browned but not fully cooked through. Remove beef from the pan and set aside.
  3. Sauté the vegetables: In the same skillet, add broccoli florets, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until the broccoli is bright green and slightly tender.
  4. Combine beef and vegetables: Return the cooked beef to the skillet with the broccoli and garlic mixture.
  5. Add the sauce: Pour the prepared soy sauce mixture over the beef and broccoli. Stir well to coat all ingredients evenly.
  6. Thicken the sauce: Continue cooking and stirring for another 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens and clings to the beef and broccoli.
  7. Finish with sesame oil: Drizzle sesame oil over the stir-fry and give a final stir to incorporate its fragrant flavor.
  8. Serve: Serve the broccoli beef stir-fry hot, ideally over steamed rice or noodles for a complete meal.

Notes

  • Slice the beef thinly against the grain to ensure tenderness.
  • Feel free to add extra vegetables like sliced carrots or snap peas for added color and nutrition.
  • Use low-sodium soy sauce if you prefer to control salt intake.
  • To make the dish gluten-free, choose a gluten-free soy sauce.
