Ingredients

2 tbsp butter

½ onion, diced

10 oz refrigerated biscuit dough, cut into pieces

1 lb halal breakfast sausage

5 eggs

½ cup whole milk

1 tsp oregano

1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese

1½ cups prepared country gravy (ensure halal)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

  2. In a skillet, cook the halal sausage and diced onion in butter over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess grease.

  3. Layer the biscuit pieces in the greased baking dish, followed by the cooked sausage mixture.

  4. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and oregano. Pour this mixture evenly over the sausage.

  5. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top and pour the warm gravy over the entire dish.

  6. Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until golden brown and set in the center.

  7. Remove from the oven and serve warm.

Notes

  • Feel free to substitute the sausage with a plant-based alternative or add extra veggies like bell peppers or spinach for a vegetarian option.
  • For an extra savory touch, add crumbled bacon or switch up the cheese varieties.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 2 months.
