Ingredients
Chicken and Coating
- 2 chicken breasts, cut into pieces
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons oil (such as vegetable or canola oil)
Hot Honey Sauce
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1–2 teaspoons chili flakes or hot sauce (adjust to preferred spice level)
- 1 tablespoon butter
Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Baking Tray: Preheat your oven to 200°C (about 400°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper or lightly grease it to prevent sticking.
- Season Chicken: Season the cut chicken pieces with salt, pepper, and paprika to infuse flavor directly into the meat.
- Coat the Chicken: Dredge each chicken piece first in the flour, then dip into the beaten egg, and finally coat evenly with panko breadcrumbs for a crunchy texture when baked.
- Arrange and Oil: Place the coated chicken pieces on the prepared baking tray in a single layer. Drizzle the 2 tablespoons of oil over them to ensure crispiness.
- Bake the Chicken: Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, until the chicken is crispy and golden brown, and cooked through.
- Prepare Hot Honey Sauce: While the chicken bakes, melt the butter in a small pan over low heat. Stir in the honey and chili flakes or hot sauce, mixing well to combine the sweet and spicy flavors.
- Drizzle and Serve: Once the chicken is baked and crispy, remove it from the oven and immediately drizzle the hot honey sauce evenly over the pieces. Serve hot.
Notes
- Adjust the amount of chili flakes or hot sauce in the hot honey sauce to your preferred spice level.
- For juicier and more flavorful results, try using chicken thighs instead of breasts.
- Serve this dish with fries, salad, or steamed rice for a complete meal.
